Pills that kill fleas instantly
Q: Is there a medicine that can be taken besides or with the frontline that kills all fleas first.
A: There is a product called capstar for dogs. you can give 1 tablet which will begin to kill fleas within 30 minutes and the effects will last for 24 hours.|flea treatment however, also involves cleaning the inside of the house and the outside environment.|
Shop for: capstar, frontline

Excess billrubin
Q: Is an excess of billrubin a fatal problem, or is there medicine that can correct this. if he has a liver problem would there be any other signs? he is a very active chihuahua
A: It is not usually a fatal problem but if excess bilirubin is found in urine i would work him up further for liver issues. some dogs have no signs with liver disease while others have signs of vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, increased thirst or urination etc. i would just get it checked out. strange color could be nothing more than ingredients from his food processed by his kidneys like food colorings, etc. but you want to be sure.

Oral medicine
Q: My yellow lab has an ear infection his vet gave him a ear drop medication, but my dog won't let anybody touch his ear therefore it's not getting helping. it's a fight holding him down and now he's on gaurd and won't go near anybody. is there an oral medicine for eye infections?
A: The ears may need flushing under sedation. ask your vet. also sometimes i find an injection of a short acting cortisone derivative reduces the pain, swelling and inflammation and allows you easier time to medicate. ask your vet

Sick cat
Q: My tabby has an infection....the vet didn't say what type of infection when we took her into him the other night....she had a fever so the vet gave her a shot to reduce that....and....we brought home some cefa-drops to give her 1ml a day for 14 days.......tabby seems fine in the mornings.....she gets up to eat and drink water and use the litter box.....after the med is given to her.....she gets lethargic and just sleeps all day...doesn't want water...so i give her water with a medicine dropper so she doesn't get dehydrated......could these cefa-drops be causing the lethargy? our vet says no but i read on the insert that it can occasionally cause lethargy.....if i check her temp. here at home and find that she's running a temp. could i give her some baby liquid tylenol to reduce the fever instead of having to run to the vet to get a shot and costing us an office visit and the price of the shot? thank you
A: Do not give your cat tylenol. it is potentially fatal. while i am not aware of cefa-drops causing lethargy, it does not mean that your cat may not be reacting this way to the medicine. they call this an idiosyncratic reaction.
